Ocnel Louissaint, Grand Hyatt

Our Union is saddened to announce the passing of Ocnel Louissaint, a houseman at the Grand Hyatt for 16 years.

Ocnel is remembered by those who knew and loved him as someone who was always smiling and friendly to everyone around him.

Steve Francis, a friend and fellow houseman at the Grand Hyatt since 2002, remembers how “Ocnel was always making jokes. He was such a cheerful, easy-going person to spend time with. We used to talk a lot about basketball. He was a huge fan of LeBron James.”

Jacques Dorce, a Bell Attendant at the Grand Hyatt, remembers all the joy Ocnel brought to the job. “We were always laughing together. Ocnel was the nicest guy, and he would always stop to say hello to people. It was such a shock to me to learn he passed away. It just won’t be the same without Ocnel around to share a laugh or two. I am really going to miss him.”

His sister Anite Louissaint, who was very close to Ocnel, fondly remembers her brother, remarking that “it was so hard to lose him. I am so saddened by his sudden passing. He was such a good man.”
